Next Internet is seeking a outstanding Software Engineer for one of our fast growing companies in San Francisco, to help build out our technology platform. As an early technical hire, you will help drive strategic technical initiatives, shape the development culture, and own large sections of the code base. Our tight-knit and talented engineering group uses short release cycles, an iterative development process, extensive unit testing, continuous integration, and other Agile techniques. We make practical tradeoffs in our design and implementation decisions, with an emphasis on communication, learning, balance, and a sustainable work environment. As a core part of this dynamic startup, you will be exposed to a wide range of challenges, with significant financial and career development upside.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have a good balance of technical and communication skills, and possess a flexible, positive attitude. You are expected to have solid experience as a web application developer, and you must be excited about building the platform for the next generation shopping experience.

Responsibilities:
- Work with engineers, product managers, and end users to design and develop internal tools and external site features
- Conceive, design, build, test, and release features and enhancements in an iterative manner
- Produce creative solutions with an emphasis on usability and simplicity
- Write and maintain documentation and unit/functional/integration tests
- Work proficiently in all layers of the development stack, from SQL to HTML/CSS and JavaScript
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in CS or equivalent
- 2-5 years work experience in web application development; startup experience is preferred
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and standard software engineering practices
- Organized, self-sufficient worker with a disciplined, analytical approach to problem solving
- Experience with major web development frameworks (Rails, Hibernate/Spring/Struts/etc., Django, etc.)
- Experience with mainstream SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
